Teach it. Preach it. - Iyanla Vanzant
Actualizado: 4 de jun de 2020
As many of you know, I have been in personal development/spiritual development business for over a decade. I've had the pleasure of working with some of the finest teachers in my field.
I worked with Iyanla at CYL events and I also was part of her social media team for awhile. However, she was a big influence on my life prior to meeting her, as her book, In the Meantime, came into my life when I needed it most. I also watched and LOVED her on Oprah. She has been in my life for over 20 years now and still to this day, I hear her in my head coaching me on what I need to do... especially when things are hard.
Recently, she did several Facebook lives to help us move through the current climate we are in. I don't even know what to call it as when I try to name it, it seems far to minimal. And then, Iyanla is in my head... saying ' you have to call a thing a thing.'
I speak, teach, and coach on LOVE, kindness, compassion, and positivity and yet I found myself paralyzed on how to help in light of another black man, George Floyd, being killed by the police. I opened up Facebook, and there she was, Iyanla Vanzant, live on Facebook hour after hour. She shared her heart, she shared her fear, and she shared her wisdom on helping us FEEL what we were feeling, release that heavy energy, all while still demanding accountability to the cops who killed Mr. Floyd. She was there for the thousands of listeners who needed her wisdom. I sure know that I needed it.
I HIGHLY encourage you to watch these 9+-hours of training from Iyanla on how we can begin to heal from racism... one heart at a time doing our individual inner work. I am quite sure you can start listening at any point in these seven videos and you will hear what you need to hear.
I strive to be the speaker she is, the coach she is, and the teacher she is. She set the bar high and I am grateful for her wisdom. I have so much more to learn and I am so grateful for her reminding me to 'do the work.'
